I am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching special education. I received a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University. I am in the process of returning to college to obtain a master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Currently, I am working as a paraprofessional in special education at the Autism Spectrum Disorder program in Massachusetts. I previously worked with a program that focuses on helping students with learning disabilities.I am passionate about teaching social studies, math and reading at the elementary level, and English. As a tutor, I am extremely patient, and it is very rewarding for me to watch my students grow as both students and individuals. My philosophy as a tutor is to emphasize the concept of never giving up. There are many different methods for studying, but not every student learns the same way. Thus, it is really a matter of finding a method that is the most effective for each individual student rather than focusing on any one individual strategy. However, the technique I've found to be the most successful is helping students relate the subject matter to their own lives. In my free time, I enjoy exercising and being physically active. I particularly enjoy running and lifting weights. I also enjoy traveling and discovering new places.
